The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is an agency established for the specific purposes of community development and disaster relief. As an internationally recognised non-government development organisation (NGO), ADRA fulfils this primary directive of its charter without regard to ethnic, political, racial or religious association.
This directive is an outgrowth of the deeply held belief that human life is infinitely valuable.

ADRA Swaziland supports development cooperation projects and provides humanitarian help in disaster areas. ADRA is a non-governmental, independent humanitarian agency of the Seventh-day Adventist church. As a legally organized independent association based in Manzini, ADRA Swaziland is lead by a board and executes its activity according to laws of the country governing NGOs. ADRA has tax-exempt status.

As a church-based organization, ADRA provides assistance to those in need without regard to ethnicity, gender, or political or religious association. ADRA's actions are holistically oriented and are defined by Christian values:

  • Man has been created in the image of God.
  • All men are equal before God.
  • Man's dignity is inviolable.
  • Every human has a right to the quality of life.

ADRA supports projects, which increase the self-reliance of recipients. ADRA cooperates with recipients and regards them with respect, as partners in a learning and sharing relationship.

ADRA understands the development cooperation as an integration process, starting at the actual roots of poverty and striving for the provision of an environment, which provides its inhabitants with the possibility to manage their own lives.
